What Plant Produces the Most Oxygen?

If your mind went to trees, you wouldn’t be alone.

The title for the plant that produces the most oxygen on earth belongs to Phytoplankton.

Phytoplankton is a small one celled plant that grows near the top of the ocean.

Scientists estimate that phytoplankton supplies earth with between fifty to eighty five percent of its oxygen.

No matter where you live on earth, every breath you take contains oxygen emitted from phytoplankton. The next time you take a deep breath, you can thank this tiny ocean plant for giving you life.
